Today is National Cat Day! In honor of this, we’re highlighting just a few of the things that make our big cats so amazing!

#1 – An adult lion’s roar can be heard up to five miles away!

#2 – Our big cats eat on average 16 lbs of meat per day, leading to a weekly meat bill of about $5,000! Steak is their favorite. When they’re babies, however, they’re bottle-fed by their trainer.

#3 – Male lions sleep on average 18-20 hours per day!

#4 – A tiger’s stripes are like a fingerprint. No two animals have the same pattern.

#5 – In the wild, lions live for an average of 12 to 16 years. They typically live for up to 25 years in captivity.

#6 – Our cats are NOT declawed.

#7 – Tigers are excellent swimmers and do not avoid water.

#8 – Lions and tigers are some of the most beautiful & fascinating animals in the world. Okay, that’s not a fact. But we think it’s true!
